Creating memories at Willow Park
A family picnic-style evening with food, live music and entertaining activities is on the agenda for Willow Park this Sunday.
Located at beautiful Eastern Beach, the Christian camp and convention centre is welcoming families to join its annual free community fun event from 4-7pm on March 5.
‘‘The idea is to have an open day where people from the community can come and see what we do at Willow Park and neighbours can enjoy using the facilities,’’ coordinator Nicole Stormer says.
The centre’s Kidz Camp leaders will be there to run activities including a water slide, quad bikes, mini golf and bouncy castles, and engage with all the children.
‘‘They’re a fantastic group of high school and university students who volunteer in the holidays to help with camp. We’re proud of the leadership skills they gain every time,’’ Stormer says, about the youth leaders.
In its history of more than 80 years, the centre has run many camps with schools, families and sports teams.
‘‘Willow Park is very special to a lot of people because of the memories they made here,’’ Stormer says.
‘‘There are still many people who have no idea what goes on at Willow Park and some don’t even know we exist. We want to invite people over for a day of fun.’’
Willow Park Christian Camp and Convention Centre, in Hostel Access Road, has activities for families to enjoy on Sunday.
