Show of support for charity causes

During the summer holidays customers at Animates Botany helped raise nearly $7500 for Mobility Dogs Assistance Trust and the SPCA.

The money collected was through Animates’ Giving Tree initiative, where clients made donations to their preferred charity and selected a yuletide bauble, writing a personalised message and hanging it on the in-store Christmas tree.

Botany store manager Avneel Kumar says staff are proud to have raised more than $7000.

‘‘We’re thankful to have such generous customers who are standing with us to continue to support these amazing charities.

‘‘Animates has a long-standing relationship with both SPCA and Mobility Dogs Assistance Trust. At the Botany store myself and my staff are proud to be able to be a part of supporting what both of these charities do.’’

All up, the recent Christmas campaign raised $118,000 through Animates stores nationwide.

Mobility Dogs general manager Jody Wilson says donations from the initiative will go towards raising and training an additional Mobility Dog this year.

SPCA NZ acting chief executive Andrea Midgen is also grateful for the generosity of Kiwis whose donations will go towards rescuing, re-homing and treating animals in need and helping the SPCA in over-stretched centres.
