Sunny weather ahead for fishos

Eastern Courier - - YOUR PAPER, YOUR PLACE -

Not much in the way of fishing this past week, as that massive weather bomb that hit Auckland really restricted us fishos from doing what we do best!

But have no fear, as these next few weeks promise a vast improvement in weather, which means we can all get back out there and start having fun!

The best reports of big snapper are coming from the bottom end of Waiheke Island, with places such as Kauri Point and Pakatoa Island being the key areas to start looking for a feed.

Kingfish are still in large numbers all over the place, and soft baits and slow jigs are going to be key to landing either kingys or snapper over the next week or so.

As our waters have been so stirred up by the storm, a high-vis bait is going to make all the difference.

It’s time to gear up everyone, fishing is officially back on!

The top baits are mullet, pilchard and mackerel.

So, until next week... Tight Lines!
