Celebrity chef sharing cooking tips
Well-known chef Simon Gault demonstrated his exquisite cooking skills at Metlifecare’s Dannemora Gardens retirement village last Friday.
He showcased how to make some of the dishes from a range of signature menu items he created for the retirement service provider, and talked about the inspiration behind them.
Many among the 200 attendees, including residents and their families and friends, arrived early to get the best spot to view Gault’s demonstration.
Sandra Scott, a resident and also chairwoman of the residents’ committee, said everybody was excited about Gault’s visit.
‘‘We’re keen to see what’s going to happen,’’ Scott said.
With a focus on healthy and quality, Gault presented a Caesar salad and freekeh risotto with Akaroa salmon on top.
‘‘We’re looking for the best of things. Everybody should eat well,’’ Gault says.
‘‘You don’t want to eat food that is full of preservatives, highly processed and refined.’’
A strong message to the residents is the focus on fresh and well-made meals, food and beverage advisor at Metlifecare Gareth Carden says.
‘‘This is a wonderful and exciting initiative [with Gault]. Metlifecare is absolutely committed to enhancing the dinning experience,’’ Carden says.
