PLANTS SECURE GROUND

Eastern Courier - - YOUR LOCAL NEWS -

We lived as tenants in the house in Clovelly Road, Bucklands Beach, from 2011 until 2016 ( Eastern Courier, August 23).

When we left, all the trees, bushes and hedges were removed from the garden, which will have had an impact on the stability of the land. Some were pohutukawa trees. Additionally, a fence was driven into the cliff edge.

A similar failure to a property belonging to a neighbour where foundation piles were put into the cliff edge happened a few years ago. There were violent storms every year, but the land was maintained in part by the vegetation and lack of cliff edge disturbance.
