It’s the season of fish galore

Eastern Courier - - FRONT PAGE -

There are fish absolutely everywhere! Anglers are heading out wide to hit up those wild work-ups, which are producing killer kahawai and superb snapper. It pays to ensure you have a plan of what depth you want to start your fishing session in.

The Big Fish team has been starting their days fishing in around 45m, and with the help of those trusty slow jigs have been landing snapper after nice snapper, the biggest a choice 65cm!

Check the tides before heading out, as they’ve been big, so when it turns you get some rip! Heavier weights (and or jigs) will be needed.

The Noises, Rakino and Tiritiri have all been action-packed. If you want to stay in close, try areas such as Parks Point, Motuihe Channel and Sergeants Channel. Anglers have reported landing fish up to 12lb.

The top baits are mullet, mackerel and pilchard. So, until next week... Tight Lines!
