Eastern Courier - - YOUR LOCAL NEWS -

A crash involving a bus and motorcycle last Wednesday claimed the life of 54-year-old Brett Howard Dodson. His motorcycle collided with a bus on Ti Rakau Drive between Greenmount Drive and Huntington Drive, near the Howick and Eastern Buses depot. A witness near the scene described ambulance, fire service and police all gathered at the entrance and exit of the depot. Dodson had worked as an agile programme manager for Genesis Energy since February. Manager Jennifer Cherrington-Mowat says they were ‘‘incredibly lucky’’ to have him as a member of staff, and his death was a tragic loss. ’’He was an inspirational leader who got the best from his team, and had an incredible ability to motivate and bring everyone on the journey. He was smart, enormous fun and a great person to bounce ideas off.’’ An investigation is under way and police are calling on anyone who might have witnessed the crash that happened around 4.30pm on October 25 to come forward, phone 09 261 1300.
