The Auckland Council’s environment and community committee has approved the 2017/18 work programme of the Seniors Advisory Panel, an advocate group for older people. The programme focuses on better public transport services and accessible options for seniors, quality mixed housing options and urban design, and an emphasis on culturally diverse programmes. It also highlights the need for more engaging recreational and community spaces and activities, and the importance of protecting the environment for future generations. The panel wants to build its connections with groups that serve seniors across Auckland to help provide advice to the council. Email seniorsadvisory.panel@aucklandcoun
