Oxfam is on a mission to inspire people to take back control of the world’s food supplies from the corporations. There are 925 million reasons to think it might be worth a try. That’s how many starving people there are in the world, according to the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO): one in seven of the world’s population. Meanwhile, about 1.3 billion tons of food, about a third of the global food production, is lost or wasted each year. The message: we can end world hunger right now if we share our food more efficiently, and base our decisions on feeding the many, rather than maximising the profits of the few.
