Café Mimosa, Takapuna

Conscious Consumers is about promoting better business & helping consumers make better purchasing decisions. Cafés display badges - think of them as scout badges for cafés - in the window that let ‘conscious’ consumers know at a glance what practices the cafe commits to. Leading the charge for Conscious Consumers on the North Shore, Café Mimosa in Takapuna signed up as a Conscious Consumers café three months ago with seven out of nine possible badges and owner Mayumi Abe says the decision to be involved with the project was an easy one. Having made the choice ten years ago to eat only organic and free range “happy” food and seeing an improvement in her health Mayumi wanted to offer café-goers in Takapuna the same experience when eating out. True to form Café Mimosa offers customers the type of food that Mayumi loves to eat herself, including a menu that features seasonal and organic produce and free range eggs as well as coffee that is made with fair trade beans and organic milk. Mayumi encourages customers to BYO Keep Cup for takeaway coffees and the café also recycles everything possible and uses only eco-friendly cleaners. A recipe for happy customers!
