Lighting the way

The 2C Solar Light Cap does exactly what the name suggests: a solar panel in the peak powers two LED’S that provide enough light to see out to arm’s reach or what is right under your feet. It’s a Kiwi design, and the company is based in Christchurch. Element contributor Andy Kenworthy has been testing the visor-only version in training for a series of off-road running events. “It’s pretty ingenious,” he says. “It makes putting a head torch on for night running much more comfortable, and lights up my feet so I know what I’m treading on. But I have been amazed at how much more use I get out of it, whether for locking up the shed at night or added visibility on my bike, and it’s great it never needs batteries. My wife even nicks it to read in bed!”
