China will be gen­er­at­ing more than 11 gi­gawatts of electricity from off­shore wind tur­bines by 2020, a new re­port says.

Fore­casts to 2020 es­ti­mate that China will over­take Ger­many in wind-pow­ered gen­er­a­tion. The UK is the top gen­er­a­tor. In 2010, China’s share of the global off­shore wind power mar­ket was 4 per cent, which is ex­pected to rise to 10.3 per cent in 2015 and 14.3 per cent by 2020.
