An Epsom café is making blooming delicious dishes, served up in what is quite possibly the finest setting in Auckland.
“When I go out I like to be excited by the food that I eat. It brings character and occasion when there is something different to offer.” So says Suellen Sawbridge who, along with husband Ian, runs Bloom Café in Mt Eden. Bloom sports all nine Conscious Consumer badges, something of which the couple are proud: We only use fresh, seasonal, quality produce and have an emphasis on free range and organic goods as we are concerned about animal welfare, too.
“Food is also about excitement, curiosity and nostalgia; for us, this is possible only when you make everything yourself – including the jam for the Devonshire Teas. It’s wonderful to see people discussing our food – the new and the quirky as well as old favourites that remind them of mum.”
