Wak­ing up the col­lec­tive con­science to the plight of our oceans and en­dan­gered ma­rine species is fash­ion de­signer Mi­randa Brown’s goal.

With her new en­vi­ron­men­tal cam­paign “Free the Sea” aimed at rais­ing aware­ness and funds for not-for-prof­its ma­rine or­gan­i­sa­tions and ed­u­ca­tors. When you buy one of the t-shirts $ 5 is do­nated to the not-for-profit you nom­i­nate on the site.

The Free The Sea T-shirt cam­paign from the Mi­randa Brown Con­scious Cloth fash­ion la­bel sees Mi­randa part­ner with For­est and Bird, En­vi­roschools and Project Jonah to cre­ate a line of funky and fash­ion­able t-shirts for kids, teens and adults.

“Free the Sea started as a ti­tle for one of my fash­ion col­lec­tions and I’ve al­ways wanted to use it to re­ally do some­thing about the ocean en­vi­ron­ment, which is in a sad state of af­fairs with over­fish­ing and pol­lu­tion” says Mi­randa.

Made from or­ganic cot­ton, or­ganic vegetable dyes and print inks, Free the Sea t-shirts are 100% biodegrad­able. T-shirts cost $ 35 for kids, and $ 55 for adults. Free the Sea t-shirts will be sold via freethe­sea.co.nz There is a three week or­der­ing win­dow from May 10-31.
