The clean chimney

You may have noticed, while driving along the southern motorway, that the chimney on the Pink Batts factory has changed. It is, in fact, a new wet electrostatic precipitator, which sucks 85% of the PM10 emissions (those coming from diesel vehicles and industry of this kind) out of the exhaust. It ist as man Insulation’s $4m contribution to the air quality of the city, which regularly exceeds acceptable levels of PM10. “Any reduction of Auckland’s dirty air is a good thing,” says tony Te Au, general manager of tasman Insulation. “And as a large manufacturer, we have a responsibility to do what we can to improve the air quality of our city.”
