Ge­n­e­sis En­ergy is a New Zealand-owned and fo­cused en­ergy com­pany. It sup­plies elec­tric­ity, gas and LPG to around 670,000 cus­tomer ac­counts from North Cape to Bluff. It is cur­rently in­stalling Ad­vanced Me­ters at its elec­tric­ity cus­tomers’ prop­er­ties. As a gen­er­a­tor of elec­tric­ity, Ge­n­e­sis En­ergy op­er­ates a di­verse port­fo­lio of power sta­tions – from the 1448MW Huntly Power Sta­tion which has four duel fuel coal/gas units and two gas-fired tur­bines, to the hy­dro sta­tions at Ton­gariro Power Scheme (362MW), Waikare­moana Power Scheme (138MW), Tekapo Power Scheme (185MW) and the Hau Nui Wind Farm (8.65MW) in south Wairarapa. Ge­n­e­sis En­ergy is also a 31% owner of the off­shore Kupe Oil and Gas Field in Taranaki. Kupe de­liv­ers 15% of New Zealand’s nat­u­ral gas and 50% of the coun­try’s LPG sup­ply. The field pro­vides long term security of gas sup­ply for the gas tur­bines at Huntly Power Sta­tion.
