A visit to the Sustainable City Showcase in November will give you a glimpse into the future of business and lifestyle.
The Sustainable City Showcase is a unique opportunity to experience the latest thinking in sustainable living, working and travelling. Entry into the Sustainable City Showcase is free. It brings together 110 businesses and innovators, who will be conveniently located in different zones of a pop-up city.
Walk through the commuter and transport zone; experience workplace and business solutions; relax in the home and lifestyle zones; live it up in the fashion and entertainment section; and indulge in the bars and cafes.
Engage in workshops and emerging technologies which will take place throughout the Showcase, and be inspired by thought leaders.
In the transport and commuting zone, check out the newest and best in hybrid technology and electric cars from the likes of Mitsubishi and Honda. See the future of electric vehicles and how you will be able to wirelessly charge them courtesy of The University of Auckland’s latest innovation. Then discover the sustainable bike shop including electric, cargo and commuter bikes that will make our city cleaner and easier to get around.
The Lifestyle Zone is all about the way you live your life – what you eat, your surroundings, energy use, and even how you die (less morbid than it sounds).
The heart of the sustainable city is the fashion and beauty stores. The venue lets you explore and buy the latest fashions for summer, which make only a minimal impact on the environment with pieces made from organic cotton and make-up from natural products. Fashion and beauty brands include Miranda Brown, We’Ar, Starfish, Kowtow, Ecostore, World Organic and more.
In the Home Zone check out a truly sustainable house, walk into a lounge and bedroom and be inspired by sustainable couches, beds, lights and other furnishings. Learn the best way to paint sustainably, source your own solar energy, insulate and many more tips to create a more sustainable and smarter home.
The Business Solutions and Workplace Zone is the innovative zone in the city for service-related business covering systems design, office products, office lighting and green walls.
The Food Providores section opens up into a farmers’ marketslash-café environment to discover organic and sustainable cuisine. Choose from a great selection of artisan food and drink producers – such as Ripe Deli, Kokako coffee, Karma Cola, Farm Butchery and Nice Blocks – for you to enjoy and sit down in a relaxed dynamic café setting after taking in the rest of the pop-up city.
Saturday at the Showcase will include children’s entertainment making it a fun day out for all the family.
