A visit to the Sus­tain­able City Show­case in Novem­ber will give you a glimpse into the fu­ture of busi­ness and life­style.

The Sus­tain­able City Show­case is a unique op­por­tu­nity to ex­pe­ri­ence the lat­est think­ing in sus­tain­able liv­ing, work­ing and trav­el­ling. En­try into the Sus­tain­able City Show­case is free. It brings to­gether 110 busi­nesses and in­no­va­tors, who will be con­ve­niently lo­cated in dif­fer­ent zones of a pop-up city.

Walk through the com­muter and trans­port zone; ex­pe­ri­ence work­place and busi­ness so­lu­tions; re­lax in the home and life­style zones; live it up in the fash­ion and en­ter­tain­ment sec­tion; and in­dulge in the bars and cafes.

En­gage in work­shops and emerg­ing tech­nolo­gies which will take place throughout the Show­case, and be in­spired by thought lead­ers.

In the trans­port and com­mut­ing zone, check out the new­est and best in hy­brid tech­nol­ogy and elec­tric cars from the likes of Mit­subishi and Honda. See the fu­ture of elec­tric ve­hi­cles and how you will be able to wire­lessly charge them cour­tesy of The Univer­sity of Auck­land’s lat­est in­no­va­tion. Then dis­cover the sus­tain­able bike shop in­clud­ing elec­tric, cargo and com­muter bikes that will make our city cleaner and eas­ier to get around.

The Life­style Zone is all about the way you live your life – what you eat, your sur­round­ings, en­ergy use, and even how you die (less mor­bid than it sounds).

The heart of the sus­tain­able city is the fash­ion and beauty stores. The venue lets you ex­plore and buy the lat­est fash­ions for sum­mer, which make only a min­i­mal im­pact on the en­vi­ron­ment with pieces made from or­ganic cot­ton and make-up from nat­u­ral prod­ucts. Fash­ion and beauty brands in­clude Mi­randa Brown, We’Ar, Starfish, Kow­tow, Eco­s­tore, World Or­ganic and more.

In the Home Zone check out a truly sus­tain­able house, walk into a lounge and bed­room and be in­spired by sus­tain­able couches, beds, lights and other fur­nish­ings. Learn the best way to paint sus­tain­ably, source your own so­lar en­ergy, in­su­late and many more tips to cre­ate a more sus­tain­able and smarter home.

The Busi­ness So­lu­tions and Work­place Zone is the in­no­va­tive zone in the city for ser­vice-re­lated busi­ness cov­er­ing sys­tems de­sign, of­fice prod­ucts, of­fice lighting and green walls.

The Food Provi­dores sec­tion opens up into a farm­ers’ mar­ket­slash-café en­vi­ron­ment to dis­cover or­ganic and sus­tain­able cui­sine. Choose from a great se­lec­tion of ar­ti­san food and drink pro­duc­ers – such as Ripe Deli, Kokako cof­fee, Karma Cola, Farm Butch­ery and Nice Blocks – for you to en­joy and sit down in a re­laxed dy­namic café set­ting af­ter tak­ing in the rest of the pop-up city.

Satur­day at the Show­case will in­clude chil­dren’s en­ter­tain­ment mak­ing it a fun day out for all the fam­ily.
