At The Grill by Sean Con­nolly we take pride in of­fer­ing a re­laxed, easy at­mos­phere that com­ple­ments de­li­cious fresh fare. Our phi­los­o­phy is to pro­vide dishes that are beau­ti­fully balanced, tech­ni­cally ex­cel­lent and the em­pha­sis is on let­ting the pro­duce shine. The Grill has a dis­tinctly Kiwi ac­cent with in­gre­di­ents and cook­ware sourced lo­cally. We have a sig­na­ture style of tra­di­tional dishes up­dated with a mod­ern twist. Din­ers can ex­pect to rel­ish in only the best pro­duce New Zealand has to of­fer. We like to place an over­rid­ing em­pha­sis on let­ting the won­der­ful New Zealand pro­duce shine through, to cook it with in­tegrity and serve it with hu­mour and a de­sire to de­light – and that re­flects the Kiwi per­son­al­ity in so many ways. The fare is very much fo­cused on meat and fish so we like to keep busy talk­ing to lo­cal pro­duc­ers to en­sure fresh and sea­sonal re­main para­mount. Our fish must be from sus­tain­able sources. The won­der­ful meat New Zealand pro­duces is a de­light to work with – you can al­most taste the rich green pas­tures of Hawkes Bay, of the North Is­land’s west coast and those in the Can­ter­bury plains of the South Is­land.
