New Zealand-owned Apex General has become the world’s first internationally accredited carboNZero certified insurance broker. The company has made big changes in the office to measure and reduce emissions and waste, and gain efficiencies wherever possible through various training and initiatives. Carbon credits purchased by the company go towards regeneration of native New Zealand forests, and volunteer days at Apex involve staff on planting days at Rotoroa Island in the Hauraki Gulf. “Having companies like APEX become involved with Rotoroa is something we really value. It builds an understanding of what we are trying to achieve – the restoration of a special environment for everyone to enjoy,” says Karyn Clare of the Rotoroa Island Trust.
