Akina will give six months of intensive support and coaching to the 10 successful social enterprise ideas in the competition, turning them into thriving, self-sustaining businesses by March 2015. “We're stoked to be able to help,” says Contact Energy's community relations manager Craig Griffiths. “Our national social and local community investment is aimed at helping New Zealanders be safe, secure and connected, so supporting social enterprise allows us to get in behind a range of great ideas to help achieve this – whether it be through our financial support or allowing our people time to volunteer their skills.” Next month Element will profile the 10 successful entries and eventual winner, which will receive start-up funding.
