In­ter­na­tional aid agency Ox­famis ask­ing Ki­wis to deck them­selves out in a Christ­mas jumper or Christ­mas gear on Fri­day, De­cem­ber 12 and make a gold coin do­na­tion to help peo­ple rise out of poverty in the Pa­cific and South­east Asia. The new sea­sonal cel­e­bra­tion, called Ox­mas, is a sim­ple and fun way to spread fes­tive cheer to fam­i­lies whoare strug­gling – many through their hun­gry sea­son. Ox­fam New Zealand’s ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor, Rachael LeMesurier, says: “Money raised will help build clean wa­ter sup­plies and en­able peo­ple to grow food to feed their fam­i­lies, it will pro­tect women from vi­o­lence and give chil­dren a chance at an ed­u­ca­tion.”
