End of coal-fired electricity in New Zealand

Element - - Planet -

The way we power the world is rapidly changing, as countries move away from dirty coal and towards clean, renewable energy. Last month, Genesis Energy announced it would be shutting down its last two coal-fired electricity generators at the Huntly power station by the end of 2018. WWF welcomed the news, with WWF-New Zealand’s Peter Hardstaff saying the decision would provide “a significant boost to New Zealand’s efforts to reduce climate emissions and demonstrates that a renewable energy future is 100% possible”.
