Hawaii: 100% re­new­able by 2045

Hawaii is to move to 100 per cent re­new­able energy. Cur­rently one out of ev­ery eight homes is so­lar pow­ered on the is­land state. The Hawai­ian gov­ern­ment re­cently in­tro­duced its first grid-tied wave power de­vice ear­lier this year, and also added an ocean ther­mal energy con­ver­sion pro­ject that gen­er­ates energy from the tem­per­a­ture dif­fer­ence be­tween warm and cold ocean wa­ter. The is­land state has com­mit­ted to use 100 per cent re­new­able energy by 2045.
