NZ products in Beijing service stations
NZ Focus has signed an agreement with Sinopec (Shenzhen) E-commerce Company, a branch of Chinese state-owned oil and gas giant Sinopec, as the sole distributor of New Zealand products in Sinopec’s service station channel.
The initial order includes honey, milk powder, kiwifruit juice and yoghurt powder under the Hansells brand and the company’s own ‘Kiwifarm’ brand.
NZ Focus managing director Marcus Glucina says that the agreement is a significant first step towards a potentially much larger deal with Sinopec which could see New Zealand products in outlets across many of China’s cities and regions.
“This will give New Zealand-branded consumer products a very significant profile in a retail environment used by literally millions of Chinese consumers every day.
“We are in talks with Sinopec about expanding distribution into Guangdong province, Guizhou, Chonqing and several other major centres and will look for managed growth into other regions as supply allows,” he said.
As part of the agreement the NZ Focus team in China have been working with Sinopec staff to educate them about the products.
