MEEK ZUIDERWYK, PHOTOGRAPHER

Fashion Quarterly - - Inside -

Does having a fashion design degree help you, or change the way you shoot fashion? Yes I think it does; knowing about fabrics and textures and the way they look under light helps. I also look at garments and appreciate how much work has gone into designing and making them. What is on your reading list right now? I have this book called The Andy Warhol

Diaries that lies around the house. You can open it at any page and get an incredible insight into Warhol’s mind and his crazy celebrity friends and parties. Next weekend

getaway? For winter it would have to be around National Park, for the trout fishing, lodges and big fireplaces. Last film you saw? I just watched a movie by Nicolas Winding Refn, one of my favourite directors, called Valhalla Rising. It’s so good. Mads Mikkelsen is amazing - he doesn’t say one word in the entire movie. Dream dinner party quest? Taylor Swift, my daughter would freak. Strangest thing in your car? Me. Best piece of advice you have been

given? If you’re offered an opportunity to do something that seems really difficult and is a challenge, never turn it down. Say yes, and figure out how to do it. The rewards for these things are always the best.
