George leads the way in golf
A good field competed in a par round in colder conditions with intermittent showers taking its toll on many players.
The greens were slow and the recent warmer days had given the rough a growth spurt, which was very penalising for any wayward shots.
Chris George showed a clean pair of heels to come in 4 up on par shooting 79 off the stick aided by birdies on4&12.
His two on the 12 included a 40-foot putt.
George also had 7 pars.
James Mickleson came in 3 up with 9 pars.
Koke Cashell managed 2 up flying home in 36 and aided by a birdie on the second.
Duane Dick also registered 2 up and despite a shaky first 4 holes played the other 14 1 over the card with a birdie on the last.
Matt Thomas was 1 up which included a birdie on the 18 th and 13 pars.
