New Year hits with a bang
Festivities in Taihape and Manawatu will have people districtwide welcoming in 2017 with fanfare.
Feilding and District Promotion project manager Raewyn Loader said they supported Palmerston North’s New Year in The Square.
There will be bands, laser lights, stroboscopic lighting effects and fireworks.
New Year in The Square coordinator Tony McLaughlin said he would be bringing a highpowered line-up of new and triedand-true crowd-pleasing favourites for the region’s biggest end-of-year party.
‘‘The city will host the most spectacular event we’ve ever held - and that’s saying something if you remember last year’s show, which featured Eclipse, the Pink Floyd tribute band,’’ McLaughlin said.
In Taihape the Gretna Hotel is putting on the New Yeahs Eve Rage on December 31.
For the braver Taihape punters the Gretna is offering karaoke.
A courtesy van will be available with pick-ups from 6pm and drop-offs at any time during the night.
People from Ohingaiti, Mangaweka, Taoroa, Moawhango, Mataroa, Waiouru and other surrounding areas can call 06 388 0638 to arrange their free ride.
Thousands turn out for the entertaining new years party in the square, Palmerston North.
