A Christmas wish to the community
Manchester House Social Services (MHSS) chief executive Marilyn Craig and her team are well and truly into the spirit of Christmas and wish everyone in the community a safe and happy Christmas.
‘‘Value all your family members more than you value their gifts,’’ says Marilyn.
‘‘The Christmas season is a treasured time to spend together. Do simple things together, such as getting outside, playing together and more importantly just having a break away from everything that may have happened over the year.’’
Manchester House will close at 12 noon on Friday.
Staff will be on call should anyone in the community need assistance, just phone 323 7191 and someone throughout the holiday season is available for urgent issues.
Manchester House will re-open Monday, January 9.
Manchester House staff and volunteers were delighted with the success of a recent pop-up shop in Bulls.
The pop-up shop was run by the Manchester House opportunity shop volunteers who help to raise funds for MHSS and the various programmes it offers.
Following the success of this venture a decision was made to open a permanent retail outlet in Bulls, but it will be a charity shop with a difference.
The retail shop will stock only new household goods and clothing for sale.
‘‘We wanted to be able to offer a store outside of Feilding and we are delighted to have named it Anythingz Possibull. The range of goods offered for sale are all new, quality goods and will be offered at excellent prices,’’ says Marilyn.
The new shop is opposite the Bulls intercity bus depot and will be open throughout the summer months, except for statutory holidays.
‘‘We wanted to be able to offer a unique shopping experience for tourists and residents. We surveyed the local community and they have made favourable comments about what we are trying to do with the opening of the retail store,’’ says Marilyn.
‘‘We wanted to create a place that encourages visitors to take the time and stop to check out what we have to offer.’’
The township of Bulls is an ideal location as it is the crossroads for State Highways 1 and 2 and naturally has a high traffic flow.
Bulls is often chosen by travellers as a good place to stop for coffee, sightseeing and a chance to refresh and walk around whilst on a long car journey.
‘‘The proceeds from the shop will be returned to achieve social service outcomes for the people of Feilding and the wider district,’’ says Marilyn.
At Christmas time, value your family members more than you value their gifts.
