WIND CUTS POWER
About 200 properties were left in the dark as strong winds and a fallen tree brought down powerlines in Manawatu¯ and Rangit¯ıkei. A tree brought down powerlines in Ohingaiti, north of Hunterville, about 1.30pm on Tuesday, cutting power to the area. In Marton, Feilding and on Rangit¯ıkei Line, strong winds caused lines to clash, tripping the supply. Powerco Network operations manager Phil Marsh said contractors had restored power to most of the properties and were working to have the balance reconnected by late Tuesday.
