FROM THE EDITOR
Our front page story about a man allegedly following a mother and daughter at a Feilding park is a scary one.
It’s a bit disconcerting to think that something like this could happen in our small, safe, rural town.
The online discussion of the case has been interesting, and I can see many people are worried.
I think this a reminder to remain vigilant, especially when it comes to supervising children in public spaces and being aware of your surroundings.
It’s never a great idea to be fully complacent, no matter if you live in a small town or big city, and more than anything this should just reinforce the behaviour we’re already teaching our kids about stranger danger, rather than put us in a state of panic or fear.
Meanwhile, the discussion on whether or not to allow smoking in our public areas is another interesting one.
Should the council put restrictions on this or is it up to our health system to tackle the issue alone?
