Christmas for those in need

Feilding-Rangitikei Herald - - Your Local News - SAM KILMISTER

Those in the community that may suffer a difficult time at Christmas can attend a community lunch.

Feilding’s St John’s Church Hall will host the lunch on Christmas Day, starting at 11.30am. Orgnaiser Nigel Ramdsen says the event is designed for those who will be on their own, or for families who would like some Christmas cheer.

The lunch will be a traditional Christmas menu, all donated by businesses and the community.

There will also be presents for everyone who attends, Ramsden said.

It’s the second year the event had run. Ramsden said it was typically single parent families with children, widows and widowers that came along.

The lunch last year fed 100 people. This year he expected 200.

Tickets to attend are available from The Salvation Army, St John’s Church and Manchester House. A family ticket is $20 regardless of the size of the family or $5 per adult, and $2.50 for a school-aged child.

The lunch has been organised by Makino Rotary, Manchester House, The Salvation Army, and St John’s Church.
