Council’s 100% pass rate
Last Thursday local Feilding businesses were subject of an Alcohol Controlled Purchase Operation (ACPO). The result was a 100% pass rate.
ACPO’s are designed to monitor and enforce sections of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 involving:
• the sale and supply of alcohol to
minors and; • allowing alcohol to be sold or
supplied to minors. The operation was conducted with the assistance of two under 18 year old volunteers who attempted to purchase alcohol under the direct supervision of Police. The volunteers looked younger than 18 and gave their actual date of birth if they were asked to verify their age.
16 licenced premises were visited and passed. These premises included supermarkets, bottle stores, cafes, taverns and hotels.
Alcohol Licensing & Monitoring officer Chris Wisnewski says it is fantastic to see that local premises are being vigilant, particularly at this time of the year.
“Council want to congratulate all licensees and their staff who operate businesses in Manawatū for their work in ensuring they maintain a 100% ACPO pass rate.”
The operation was run by Police in partnership with the Manawatū District Council Alcohol Licensing & Monitoring Officer and Mid Central Health.
