A type of dried jalapeño, chipo­tle pep­pers are rich in nu­tri­tious com­pounds, boast­ing vi­ta­mins in­clud­ing A, C, K and B6, as well as potas­sium, iron, fi­bre and mag­ne­sium. They have been linked to a re­duc­tion in car­dio­vas­cu­lar dis­ease, not least because they con­tain cap­saicin, which stud­ies in­di­cate in­creases blood ves­sel flex­i­bil­ity, thereby re­duc­ing blood pres­sure. Cap­saicin, which is what gives chillis their heat, is also said to be ben­e­fi­cial for weight loss and the man­age­ment of in­sulin lev­els.
