Beauty seeking sponsorship

A Waiuku preschool teacher is in the running for Miss World New Zealand this year and is seeking local sponsorship to help get her there.

Kyla Hei Hei has entered beauty contests before but this is the be-all and end-all for her as she enters the running to be Miss New Zealand with the chance of competing for Miss World.

The former Miss Franklin has been through the first heats for Miss World New Zealand and now she needs $1000 to enter as a finalist.

‘‘ It’s really exciting but I really need to get local support behind me.

‘‘ And it’s a good way for Franklin businesses to get publicity,’’ she said.

Kyla has to provide her clothes for the event and hair and makeup but, due to the state of the economy, she and other pageant entrants are struggling to get financial backing.

Miss World New Zealand is on April 25 and, with only 16 finalists, Kyla has a good chance at achieving top spot.

Any business that offers sponsorship gets free advertising at the events and on the Miss World New Zealand website.

Kyla can be contacted on 021 0515 902.
