Pukekohe swim team excels

The Pukekohe Swimming Club has returned from the New Zealand Division Two Championships in Rotorua in third place.

The Sue Cheyne-coached team went into the four-day event with the aim of achieving as many personal bests as possible and they came away with a 70 percent strike rate – the highest rate in Counties.

The result of those PBs equated to multiple medals and finals placings.

The stand-out individual swimmer was Jordan Smith who swam PBs in 10 of his races, achieved a national meet record for the 50m breaststroke, and qualified for the NZ Age Group Champs next year.

Other notable performances came from Dillon Logan – breaking the Counties Manukau record for the 50m butterfly, Danni Brown qualifying for next year’s NZ Age Group Champs and Kirsty Des Landes making the biggest jump up the rankings (24 places).
