COVIC season begins

Franklin County News - - SPORT -

Counties-Manuakau Veterans Inter Club (COVIC) golf pennants will tee off on March 10 at the Maramarua Golf Club.

The competition has been running for 20 years and this week the first of six qualifying rounds will be played at Maramarua.

The field will then be split into two groups of six teams playing for the COVIC Shield and Plate.

Club conveners are at present busy selecting teams, so if any keen golfers want to represent a COVIC club, please let them know.

The goal for COVIC is to provide affordable and fun inter club team competition golf, for the veteran or senior golfer.

Golfers wanting to join the competition need to be a member of a COVIC club, 50 years or older and have a love for fun and friendly competitive team golf.

COVIC is a mixed competition with clubs encouraged to select at least one woman per team.

Further enquiry about COVIC golf can be made on 0273110256.
