Fun triathlon challenge for primary school kids
Close to 400 kids will tackle the Fulton Swim School’s Franklin Primary Schools Triathlon on Friday, March 10.
The event will see youngsters swim, bike and run around the scenic Clarks Beach course, and organiser Daniel Fulton said he was looking forward to seeing some happy faces crossing the finish line.
‘‘There is a lot of work throughout the year that goes into this, from the volunteer committee and the event brings it all together for the children in one awesome day.
‘‘The highlight is always seeing the joy, pain and fulfillment on childrens faces when they cross the finish line and receive their medals.’’
This will be the 11th year the triathlon has been held, and all proceeds from the event get reinvested back into sports within Franklin.
Fulton said it was important children took part in events like this, because it was a good educational experience.
‘‘It’s about goal setting, getting out and being active and actually achieving something that is a challenge... They are all there to achieve something special. It is no easy event with the swimming often being the toughest out at the beach.
‘‘It’s always a favourite day of the year for me. I absolutely love the event.’’
