Pukekohe Fire Brigade’s new Chief Fire Officer
Pukekohe Volunteer Fire Brigade welcomed its new Chief Fire Officer this month.
John Robinson, who has a long association with the New Zealand Fire Service, has taken the helm after former Chief Fire Officer Scott Darnill retired last month.
Robinson served 17 years with the Ngaruawahia Volunteer Fire Brigade before joining the Pukekohe brigade.
During his 14 year service with the Pukekohe brigade, Robinson has been the senior station officer, brigade training officer and brigade secretary.
Robinson is very excited to have started the position he has aspired to
‘‘This is a very proud moment in my career.
‘‘I am able to accomplish a 30-year dream of running a brigade,’’ said Robinson.
He plans to maintain and improve the brigade’s turnover times and wishes to continue its educational programmes.
Robinson is married and has two grown children who support him in his community service role.
Robinson had a message for the people of Franklin. ‘‘Be mindful about what you’re doing in your home, have a set fire plan in place, and have working fire alarms in your homes.’’
