Thrilling trifecta for Columbus Cafe

Franklin County News - - BUSINESS - BRIAR HUBBARD

Mitre 10 Mega’s Columbus Cafe has come away from the national Columbus Coffee Awards with three titles.

Manager Monique Porter said while she secretly hoped for a win, to be awarded a trifecta was a huge thrill. The Pukekohe cafe landed the Giving Back award, Brand Engagement, and Store Manager of the Year.

‘‘It’s great, it’s absolutely amazing, I’m a bit gobsmacked with how much we took away.’’

It’s the third consecutive year the franchise has won the Giving Back award, by staff rolling up their sleeves and getting involved within the community.

‘‘It’s about being able to help the public as much as they help us,’’ Porter said.

Winning the accolades was a result of passion and dedication.

‘‘(It’s been) a lot of hard work, supporting the whole Columbus brand and listening to what customers want - I take on a lot of what customers and staff want.’’

She said after nearly five years in business it was fantastic to know they were growing bigger and better.

‘‘It (the awards) gives you that motivation to carry on and it’s that boost that what you are doing is on the right track and it boosts staff morale.’’
