Cook-a-thons on the menu for Bellyful
It’s crucial that we fill our bellies with food to make sure we maintain good energy levels, however, as a stressed mother with a newborn baby, the prospect of eating can be forgotten.
Thanks to Bellyful Franklin, families with newborn babies, young children or children with illnesses can focus on their loved ones and stop worrying about what meal they have to cook.
Z Energy’s Good in the Hood has valued Bellyful Franklin’s efforts, which has seen the charity nominated to be a recipient of the Z Energy station campaign in Waiuku.
Bellyful Franklin branch coordinator Leanne McMurtrie said:
‘‘Being chosen as a finalist raises our profile in Waiuku and will encourage more of the community to use our service. We were very grateful to have been chosen and excited about the opportunities it brings. We are really lucky to be a part of our generous Franklin community.’’
Bellyful prepares and provides beef lasagne, beef bolognaise sauce and macaroni cheese dinners.
‘‘All the money we receive will go towards buying ingredients for our cook-a-thons so we can continue providing meals to our Franklin community,’’ said McMurtrie.
‘‘With the funds we receive being used to purchase ingredients, our other funds are freed up to use for purchasing new cooking equipment and freezer storage.’’
McMurtrie praised Z Energy for its Good in the Hood incentive.
‘‘We believe it is a wonderful community incentive, as Z [Energy] customers can support local organisations in their own ‘hood’ during the Good in the Hood promotion.’’
