FROM THE NEWS DESK
It’s a tad bittersweet in the office this week. Reporter John Boynton recently made the move to Radio New Zealand, and all of us are thrilled for his new venture. But having an empty chair where he used to sit is a bitter pill to swallow. Boynts is a fantastic journalist, and his writing skills, along with his quick wit and kind heart will be sorely missed. He has been a great friend to have in the office, but we know he will be taking his new role by storm. Last month reporter Natalie Polley returned after being on maternity leave, which I had been covering, after I unsuccessfully tried to fly the nest and was rehired in January. So while it was sad to see Boynts leave, it has allowed me to slot back in to the world of reporting. I first set foot in Franklin County News in 2010 during an internship, and after seven years I still look forward to coming into the office. Not many people can say they love their job and I’m so grateful I’m one of the lucky ones. All the best Boynts, go set the world on fire.
