New leads in historic cold case
Police are interested in a small group of people in relation to the historic murder of barman Chris Bush.
Last month police reopened the case into Bush’s death. He was fatally shot 30 years ago at the Red Fox Tavern in Maramarua in October 1987.
Police are following new leads, said Detective Inspector Gary Lendrum, of Counties Manukau CIB.
Bush was shot dead at the tavern just before midnight on Saturday 24 October, after two men burst in while he was enjoying a drink with three other staff members.
Police have been able to narrow their focus on to a small group of ‘‘persons of interest’’ based on new information, Lendrum said.
‘‘We are confident that we will eventually solve this case and that those responsible for the cruel murder of Chris Bush will be held responsible.’’
Police thanked people who came forward with information following the recent airing of the murder case on Police Ten 7.
