Float en­tries open for pa­rade

Sto­ry­book char­ac­ters will come alive this De­cem­ber as the Pukekohe Christ­mas Pa­rade 2017 takes to the cen­tre of town.

The pa­rade will be held on De­cem­ber 3 from 2pm, along King St, with the theme of

One of the event’s or­gan­is­ers, Donna Vin­cent from Workz4U, said last year’s pa­rade fea­tured over 30 floats.

‘‘The par­tic­i­pants re­ally put in a won­der­ful ef­fort to go with the theme, and the crowds loved it.’’

The pa­rade is or­gan­ised by the Pukekohe com­bined ser­vices clubs - the Pukekohe Lions and Pukekohe Ro­tary - with sup­port from the Pukekohe Busi­ness As­so­ci­a­tion and Workz4U.

En­try is free, with cat­e­gory win­ners re­ceiv­ing $500.

‘‘We would love to see more schools in­volved, as our pa­rade gets very few com­pared to Tuakau and Waiuku,’’ said Vin­cent.

‘‘We have lots of com­pa­nies who are will­ing to pro­vide trucks and driv­ers for free for the day; they just need to get the kids in­volved in mak­ing the dec­o­ra­tions.

Floats meet at the Massey Ave in Pukekohe carpark any­time from 10am on­wards on De­cem­ber 3.

Judg­ing starts from 12pm on­wards. The rain date is De­cem­ber 10.
