Institute sees increase in its numbers
Karaka Women’s Institute held its annual dinner meeting in February, it was a grand turn out with 72 ladies in attendance at the dinner meeting.
The ladies were entertained by well-known gardener Lynda Hallinan who demonstrated how to make jam in 10 minutes.
Sarajane Crookes, president of South Auckland Federation of Women’s Institutes, talked about what it meant to be part of Women’s Institute and how, in its 97 years, the aim was to grow membership.
There were 33 signed up members by the end of the night. Giving women an opportunity to go to an evening meeting meant they could support their group out side of their working hours. For more information about the Karaka Women’s Institute contact Sarajane Crookes 021 2942 180..
