The Kāpiti district stretches over 724.2km2, from Paekākāriki in the south through to Ōtaki in the north. With a pop­u­la­tion of 51,400, the Kāpiti coast has an amaz­ing ar­ray of birdlife and out­door ad­ven­tures to dis­cover; with at­trac­tions such as the South­ward Car Mu­seum, and Kāpiti Is­land it­self. Kiwi film­maker Sir Peter Jack­son went to Kapiti Col­lege, and started his film­mak­ing ca­reer there.
