Good Food Guide - - Auckland -

Ponsonby Road Bistro is the epitome of a classy, accessible local bistro, and a stalwart of the often fickle Ponsonby restaurant scene. The ambience is welcoming and the food, wine and service is reliably excellent, whether you’re popping in for a quiet dinner early in the week, a long working lunch or a casual catch-up with friends. The short menu is classic French bistro, with hearty portions of rich, well-flavoured food in surroundings that are classy, subtle and relaxing. The wine list is excellent, with an imaginative by-the-glass selection. Melissa Morrow is one of Auckland’s best front-ofhouse presences – she strikes the perfect balance between warm and professional and, most importantly, is extremely knowledgeable about the food and wine on offer. 165 Ponsonby Rd, Ponsonby, ph: 09-360 1611, ponsonbyroadbistro.co.nz Lunch Mon-fri, dinner Mon-sat; mains $32.50-$35.50 IN BRIEF Warm and welcoming neighbourhood bistro
