URBAN OYSTER BAR & EATERY

14.5/20

Good Food Guide - - Wellington -

This casual, lively spot has been a great addition to Nelson’s dining scene since opening its doors in late 2014. Run by Matt Bouterey, formerly of the highly regarded Bouterey’s, the vibe is industrial-chic and the frequently changing menu is designed to share. Everything is fresh and flavoursome, with much of the produce sourced from Bouterey’s own garden in nearby Appleby. Less-popular cuts of meat are put to excellent use – iceberg lettuce cups hold flavoursome, tender pulled pork knuckle topped with nahm prik and crispy shallots, for example. Seafood is another highlight, such as in the “Urban-style” deconstructed ceviche with corn tortillas and chilli coconut whip. The wine list is wellconstructed and craft brews from Mapua’s Golden Bear are on tap. 278 Hardy St, Nelson, ph: 03-546 7861, urbaneatery.co.nz Lunch Thurs-sat, dinner Mon-sat; larger plates $16- $27 IN BRIEF Fun, flavoursome food and drink in a great space
