Uncomplicated, full-flavoured classics are on offer here – the likes of French country terrine with pickled cherries and crunchy cornichons, or veal schnitzel with crispy potato rosti, coleslaw and creamy caper butter (do go all out and have it ‘Holstein’ with the addition of a softly poached egg and anchovies). There are also pepperings of the unexpected on this classy blackboard menu – you might find a prawn salad with grapes, tahini yoghurt, beets, almonds and harissa, or Ōra King salmon with cardamom rice, spiced beetroot, raita and tamarind. Portions are generous so desserts may be a stretch, but it would be a shame to miss out on the churros con chocolate or rose panna cotta with rhubarb and pistachio. Expect a warm welcome and a buzzy vibe, with a drinks list that suits the menu perfectly.
