TWO CHEFS BISTRO
With gilt-framed mirrors, banquettes and a marbletopped bar backed by a wall of wine bottles, Two Chefs Bistro has a Parisian feel. Adding to the sense of sophistication are the well-trained, welcoming staff, offering attentive but not intrusive service. The eponymous chefs are Helen Mason and Greg Cockroft, veterans of the Dunedin dining scene who serve upmarket bistro fare with a nod to France, but also embracing fusion and contemporary cuisine. You might choose a classic country terrine of pork, rabbit and duck served with tamarillo chutney, or a slow-cooked Asian-spiced duck on grilled kumara with a salad of Asian leaves. Cockroft’s wine list is individual, with an intriguing selection of uncommon wines including older vintages, plus a number by the glass and some craft beers.
