Shoe study weighs in

Good Health Choices - - Health bites -

Light running shoes might be trending, but they could increase your risk of injury. A study of 61 experienced runners found that for those weighing more than 85kg, the risk of injury in light shoes was three times higher

than in conventional ones, which have extra cushioning – regardless if the weight was from fat or lean muscle. Lead researcher Dr Joel Fuller says those weighing over 85kg should avoid shoes with less than 26mm of heel cushioning and less than 7mm of

heel-to-toe drop.
